Challenger brands are no longer confined to the likes of Monzo and Tide. With new entrants such as Apple and Amazon, PWC building a banking ecosystem, and insurers leveraging ecosystems such as Alexa to access new customers, just having a friendly app user experience no longer cuts it.

The traditional players do have certain advantages over the upstarts. They have a wealth of customer data and capability, they have deep pockets to invest, and they have already overcome a lot of the regulatory hurdles that have stopped many challengers opening across the US.

To frame the rest of our series, we’ll be looking in more detail at the winners and losers in the 2020 FS space, focusing on those who’ve excelled and those who’ve failed, and examining the key ingredients needed to grow in an ever-changing market.

Key takeaways

  • Look at who is succeeding and failing in the Financial services space
  • We’ll explore the key ingredients incumbent FS brands need to adopt to beat off the fintech challenger threat
